Astons Kickboxing Academy – Fundraising appeal

Astons Kickboxing Academy has launched an appeal to local businesses to help it raise funds in order to continue its remarkable run of successes.

The club, based in Castle Foregate, Shrewsbury, have been cementing their reputation as one of the premier kickboxing clubs in the UK with an run of medals at competitions both nationally and in Europe, including most recently at a national competition held in Northamptonshire on Sunday 23rd May where they secured a fantastic 3rd place medal for Jake Lenton, aged 13, and two gold medals for team coach Chris Aston, one individual medal and one as the captain of the Adidas National team.

These successes, along with impressive performances at the recent Irish Open and British Open, have led the clubs fight team to be invited to compete at the prestigious Flanders Open competition in September. This competition is a highlight in the European calendar and is rightly considered to be one of the most keenly contested and highly sought after competitions in Europe and the club is keen to send a strong team to represent the county.

Club coach Chris Aston said “The way that the club has progressed over the last 6 months is incredible. Not only do I have a team that is now competing at the highest level and securing medals and trophies at almost every competition, but I also have a large number of youngsters who have taken up kickboxing as a result of the teams successes and I believe will be “knocking at the door” of the fight team in the coming months”

“The strides that this team have taken give me an incredible sense of pride and are a testament to the benefits that come from hard work and dedication, no small achievement given that our fight team is mainly made up of youngsters aged from 9 to 17 years old”

“I am conscious however that our successes now mean the club is “on the map” and as a result we are receiving invitations to compete around the country and further afield, often against teams that are able to call upon sponsorship from large organisations or sports manufacturers”

“To ensure that my team have the very best opportunities in the sport, and to help the next generation coming through at the club, I am looking to the business community in Shrewsbury to see if there are any sponsorship opportunities available”

“I want the club to have the very best premises and equipment for when our members train and I want to be able to ensure that every student that has the ability, can join our fight team and take part in the fantastic experiences to be gained from travelling and competing at the highest level.”

“If there are any Shrewsbury businesses that feel they would like to be associated with a local club that has a demonstrable track record of success at the highest level and teaches young people some of the most valuable life lessons, then I would love to hear from you. I would be happy to show you around the club, to introduce you to the fight team and to discuss areas where your association with my team could offer benefits to your business.
