Alan Ward Launches Revamped Website

An independent furniture retailer founded more than 40 years ago in Shropshire has launched a new e-commerce website in time for the all-important winter sale period – traditionally the busiest of the year.

Shrewsbury-based Alan Ward has transformed its online presence to make it easier for customers to navigate through the thousands of products on offer.

Bosses are also hoping it will encourage more visitors to its four showrooms.

Elaine Ray, commercial director for Alan Ward, said: “Having an effective online presence is so important for any company and none more so than in the furnishings sector where people demand a huge choice of styles, materials and sizes.

“We worked closely with Shrewsbury-based design, digital and marketing agency Clear Design to scope the design and functionality required using the latest Magento platform.

“Our new website has been designed with a state-of-the-art advance search facility to make it easier to find exactly what you’re looking for.

She added: “We wanted to make the new website much easier to navigate. All categories, such as sofas and chairs, living and dining and bedroom, are set in a very user-friendly way.

“We give online customers lots of information and advice on the products, but customers are also encouraged to contact us via email or visit in-store.

“People like to do a lot of their research online and often like to find out what we have available before they visit one of our four showrooms to see the items in person.
The website also includes contact details and opening times for Alan Ward’s four stores at Ennerdale Road in Shrewsbury and Chester, Newcastle-Under-Lyme and Winsford.

Alan Ward employs more than 100 members of staff across its four stores.
