“Showing Off” in Ludlow April 26th & 27th 2014

The top designer makers from the region will be converging on Ludlow this April, as the Shropshire Guild of Contemporary Craft's 'Showing Off' selling exhibition takes place.

Chair of The Shropshire Guild and ceramicist Caroline Bennett, who works from her studio near Bridgnorth said "each year, we select exhibitors to make sure there are not only a diverse array of items for sale but also that every item on display will reflects the high level of craftsmanship and design".

The Harley Centre at Ludlow College will be the venue for spring Show, and will be held over the weekend of April 26th and 27th.

Shropshire designer makers will be joined by makers from the Worcestershire Guild of Designer Craftsmen and guests and will showcase a wide variety of quality, contemporary work by Guild members and guests including ceramics, furniture, glass, jewellery and textiles.
Exhibitors at 'Showing Off' will include new Guild member and furniture maker Robert Shelton from Oswestry, who's furniture is based on traditional designs, but often with a contemporary twist. Robert says "many a happy hour is spent rummaging around wood yards carefully selecting beautiful wood, with a local provenance where possible, which I use to craft individual pieces of furniture with real character".
Another exhibitor is sculptor, Simon Connolly who works from his studio overlooking Wenlock Edge and sculpts in stoneware clay. Simon's work is inspired by the British countryside and rural living and he seeks to capture the vibrancy and flow of nature.
Sculptor and ceramicist Caroline, who works from her studio near Bridgnorth creates hand built and slip cast vessels as well as figurative sculptures. Caroline said "Showing Off is a great opportunity to really show-off what we have all been making and creating throughout the year".
'Showing Off' is open from 10am – 5pm on Saturday April 26th and 10am – 4pm on Sunday April 27th, admission is free.
