Time for tea call to Shrewsbury’s influx of visitors

A red campervan called Rosie is starring in a tea party themed attraction to promote the wider appeal of Shrewsbury during Flower Show and national Afternoon Tea Week.

Shrewsbury BID has organised the colourful pit stop to support the event on Friday 14 and Saturday 15 August and encourage visitors to see what more the town centre has to offer.

Campervan ‘Rosie’ is be the centrepiece of a decorated set from 10am to 6pm with promotional ambassadors to direct people into town and give away tea-time related discount vouchers and complimentary Shrewsbury biscuits.

Positioned outside St Chad’s Church, to catch the attention of people leaving Shrewsbury Flower Show from St Chad’s Terrace entrance, the themed display features the flower and tea themed campervan, grass cubes to sit on and a giant teacup!

Visitors can enter a teatime Shrewsbury Selfie photo competition and share their pictures with the campervan on social media to win afternoon tea in town. They can also pick up an information leaflet with map and vouchers for offers from local businesses.

Kirsten Henly, Shrewsbury BID Manager, said: “Shrewsbury Flower Show always creates a great atmosphere and brings in an influx of visitors from around the region and country. We want to encourage them to wander into town, relax after a busy day out at the show, take a break and discover more about what makes Shrewsbury such a special place.

“We have worked with local businesses to provide a range of teatime inspired offers for visitors here over the weekend and of course, encourage them to visit Shrewsbury again.”
