Belle Vue Restorations' French Connection

Shrewsbury Restorations business Belle Vue Restorations are to be featured on Channel 4 programme French Collection today, Monday 27th July. The television show seems presenter Mark Franks give three Brits 800 euros each and takes them across the Channel to find vintage collectibles they think will make them a profit. Mark's on hand with his expert knowledge throughout but all decisions are made by the contestants. Once home, they upcycle and repurpose their purchases to add as much value as possible.

Edward Handbury-Madin and Peter Grady, who run Belle Vue Restorations, were delighted to be filmed for the show, which sees them restore an item for a local resident, who took part in the show. ‘It was great to be involved in the process, and to help contestant Marie by restoring a piece she had bought in France’, said Edward and Peter. ‘It’s a fantastic feeling to be able to bring an item back to its former glory and give it a new lease of life!’

The business partners, who have over 40 years’ experience in furniture restoration, cabinet making and the antiques trade, restore items from their workshop on Green Lane, off Upper Road in Shrewsbury. It is recognised as one of the finest companies of its kind in the Midlands. They also have an adjoining antiques shop of high quality antique furniture, home furnishings and decorative items. They were joined at the premises earlier this year by another local antiques and collections business, It’s a nomad life, which is run by Edward’s brother Sam Handbury-Madin and his wife Victoria.  So there's lot to see on site!

‘We’ve really enjoyed joining Belle Vue Antiques and Restorations,’ said Sam. ‘Customers always comment how beautiful the showroom is and how nice it is to be able to see Ed and Peter working on items too. There is always someone on site to give knowledgeable advice!’

You can visit the showroom and workshop at Belle Vue Restorations Ltd.
