A day at the races

Now that the warmer weather is here, it’s definitely time to get outdoors and enjoy the sunshine. And what better way to spend the upcoming bank holiday than a day at Eyton Races!

Eyton Races

On Monday 4th May, the small village of Eyton-on-Severn will be transformed into a hub of activity as hundreds of people descend upon the nearby racecourse to celebrate one of the great horse racing events of the year.

The point-to-point races will begin at 2pm on the Monday and carry on until last race at 5.05pm. This will see a great competition amongst the horses who will race the superb old course that offers the perfect blend of flat galloping and fences. All of the latest racing information can be found at bookies.com.

The day at Eyton is not all about the racing however, as there are a range of fantastic events for all of the family to enjoy.

Racing fashion

Following on from the traditional Ladies’ Days at racing festivals such as the Cheltenham Gold Cup and the Grand National, Eyton will also host its own ‘best-dressed’ competition. This will be sponsored by Shropshire’s own Templeton Jones who will not only be displaying the very best in deluxe country fashion, but will also be offering a £250 clothing voucher for the winner, as well as a pair of cotton-lined Le Chameau boots for the runner up.

Furthermore, there will be a host of retailers attending the festival to display their wares. Renowned brands such as Joules will be unveiling their summer range for the family at the race, whereas Toddlers 2 Kids will also be in attendance to make sure that the little ones are suitably kitted-up should there be a touch of inclement weather.

Local produce

And what is a bank holiday without the very best in food and drink? Thankfully, there is a fantastic opportunity to indulge yourself in the finest local Shropshire produce as a food village will offer some highly enticing culinary delights.

This will be a true celebration of Shropshire food with the likes of famous community-owned Fordhall Farm bringing the very best in organic produce with some mouth-watering sausages and burgers on offer. There will also be a range of food outlets offering everything from smoked chicken to crepes and ice cream. And for those who are seeking to celebrate their winnings on the racetrack, there’s also a fully licensed bar!
