Recruitment drive by developer

A recruitment drive has been launched by a Shropshire building company as part of its ambitious expansion plans.

Galliers New Homes, which has recently opened a new sales hub in the centre of Shrewsbury and has already created six new posts, is looking for up to 50 skilled local people to join its team.

The firm has started work on new Shrewsbury developments of 27 homes in Ingleby Way in The Mount and 25 properties at Holgate Drive, Sundorne, and development is well underway at a site in Llanymynech.

“This is a very exciting year for Galliers New Homes and we are now in a position to start recruiting people,” said managing director Ian Burns.

“We have a range of new posts available, including jobs for labourers, sub contractors and contractors experienced in the construction industry, and want to appoint local people if possible in order to boost the Shropshire and mid Wales economy,” he said.

Ian added that as part of Shropshire Council’s Community Infrastructure Levy scheme, the company would also be making a contribution of around £200,000 to the local economy.

The scheme means that a percentage of the development costs are passed on the council for use on initiatives such as community projects and improvements.
The firm is also looking at a range of sponsorship opportunities with local events, teams and organisations.

“We know that the Galliers brand is one of the best-known in Shrewsbury and we intend to revive its name and ensure we as a company play a full and active role in the community,” Ian added.
