New Shrewsbury Basketball Club

An exciting new Senior Basketball Club has been set up in Shrewsbury. Shrewsbury Basketball Club is now running a Senior Basketball Club alongside it's already successful Junior Basketball Club. The Senior Club meets on Wednesday nights at Roman Road Sports Centre between 8pm and 9pm and can expect 13 players at any session.

The sessions are focussed on player development and provide an opportunity for new players to learn the game and existing players to improve their skills. The Senior Club organised and played their first game against North Wales Basketball Association club Oswestry Wizards on the 17th September and more games are planned in the future.

Senior Club Coach Dave Owen said of the venture "I'm very proud of how quickly we've been able to establish a Senior Basketball Club in Shrewsbury. As a player who grew up in Shrewsbury with no coaching available to me I'm passionate about developing the talented players we have in the area."

The Junior Basketball Club meets on Wednesday nights at Shrewsbury Sports Village between 5.30pm and 7pm and Shrewsbury Basketball Club continues to grow with a Satellite Junior Club at Corbet School and a Wheelchair Club recently added to the structure. Shrewsbury Basketball Club is run by a small team of volunteers with no funding and is always looking for new players to join any of their clubs, volunteers to help run the club and sponsors to help develop basketball as a sport in the area.

If you are interested in joining the club or would like more information please contact Sharon Robinson on 07729 256397 or e-mail [email protected].
