Nominations open for Shropshire Businesses for Children Awards 2015

Organisers of the annual BCAs are preparing for a second event after the huge success of its debut ceremony in March this year.

The awards recognise the efforts of businesses that work with children and young people and help to raise their profile across the county to ensure children and young people have the chance to access their services and products.

The overall winner of the 2014 awards was Helen Jones of Baby Sensory Shropshire, who runs sensory classes for babies up to the age of 13 months in Shrewsbury and Oswestry.

She said: “I was absolutely amazed to have won and was just so thankful to all the wonderful mums who nominated me and for the lovely testimonials they put forward for the judges. I couldn’t have done it without them.

“It was so wonderful to be recognised.”

Nominations are now open for the 11 categories in the 2015 awards and businesses can nominate themselves or others.

Lorna McCann, of the BCA team, said: “The awards cover a wide range of categories in which we can congratulate the organisations who provide excellent services including best products, teaching languages, healthy eating, child care, charities and much more.
“There are so many businesses across Shropshire which provide services or products that enrich the lives of children and young people.
“It is a wonderful time to be a parent because there is so much available to see and do. From Baby Sensory lessons for newborns to agricultural colleges for young adults, Shropshire really has the whole package.
“We hope to welcome a wide variety of businesses to the event.”
The ceremony is being held at the Park Inn, Telford, on March 14 next year, starting with networking at 6pm with drinks and canapes and followed by speakers, dinner, the awards ceremony and dancing.

Mrs McCann added: “We are looking for more businesses to sponsor the award categories and the award ceremony, as well as a headline sponsor, so there are lots of ways for people to get involved.
“We are extremely grateful to the sponsors who help make this event possible. Shrewsbury-based Beaumont Lawrence and Telford-based Bespoke Computing Ltd have already come forward to sponsor in 2015 which is fantastic.”
