Leo Appleyard,  a London based jazz guitarist, studied at The Royal Academy of Music, London  and Birmingham Conservatoire where he received tuition from many notable musicians including Phil Robson, Jean Toussaint, Nick Smart, Hans Koller and Mike Williams.

In June 2012, after a life-long interest in radio, Leo produced his first radio show – “New Jazz in Birmingham:  The Second City Scene” – broadcast on UK Jazz Radio.

Leo's Quartet, (original members, Eagles and Luthert,  Appleyard  met at secondary school) have been playing together in various forms since 2007 and have played at many venues and festivals over the last few years.

In August 2013, Leo recorded his debut album, “Pembroke Road” highlighting his vibrant and melodic music and featuring special guest Neil Yates (Tpt) alongside Duncan Eagles (Sax), Max Luthert (Bass), and Eric Ford (Drums).

The album is set for release in September 2014 on F-IRE records and features nine original compositions.
