Bizmums, at the Lord Hill Hotel

A networking group set up to support women in business across Shropshire and North Wales is to stage its first annual conference and awards ceremony.
The event, hosted by Bizmums, at the Lord Hill Hotel on September 14, aims to promote and celebrate the business achievements of women who are self-employed working mothers.
Nominations are currently being sought for award entries across seven different categories, ranging from Outstanding Personal Achievement to Best New Business.
“The event will include a series of talks from business speakers, drawn from many different areas of expertise, as well as the chance for participants to network and browse stands showcasing various local companies,” said group founder Michelle Childs.
“The biggest highlight of the day will be the presentation of the Bizmums awards which will give our members an opportunity to recognise the hard work and dedication of many inspirational self-employed women who are successfully building businesses.
“Being a mother is a very special role, and being able to run a family while growing a business is something that deserves recognition.”
The Bizmums awards have been custom made by designer Angela Georgiou, of Kiki Jewellery, based in Ironbridge.
The closing date for award nominations is July 31. They will be judged by an independent panel made up of regional business people. Shortlisted candidates will be notified at the end of August and winners will be announced live on stage on September 14.
Bizmums was founded in November last year and has rapidly grown. Earlier this year the organisation was granted social enterprise status and received over £4,000 in funding from UnLtd, the leading suppliers of support to social entrepeneurs in the UK.
