Volunteer to help get Shropshire composting!

Could you help to inspire people in Shropshire to recycle more and waste less?  We need volunteers to help deliver our public education programme.

To volunteer you need to attend our foundation training course which is being held on Saturday 29th March from 10-4 at Shropshire Wildlife Trust in Shrewsbury.  The course is run by national charity Garden Organic with support from Shropshire Council and Veolia.

Our volunteers particularly help to promote home composting but some get involved with other aspects of waste prevention activities. For example, organising school visits, undertaking press work, assisting with recycling advice roadshows, giving talks to community groups, setting up new community gardens and allotments, supporting community recycling, organising site visits and giving public demonstrations - anything to get people thinking about their waste.

Volunteers are offered high quality training and ongoing support including expenses to help them do their job.  Its a real opportunity to learn new skills and work in a team to help make a positive difference for society and the environment in Shropshire.

If you could spare some time and want to help simply contact James Thompson at Shropshire Council.  Email [email protected] or 01743 255989.
