Shropshire firm supplies equipment to the composting industry

Hidden away in north Shropshire is the workshop of Harry West (Prees) Limited where they manufacture a wide range of machinery.

Way back in 1966 (back when Englands footballers were world beaters!) founding Chairman, Harry West, started a steel fabrication unit to meet the needs of the local agricultural community.  Manufacturing specialist straw choppers and manure spreaders lead to adaption and they are now working with the growing organic waste management industry.

Their Seko range of composting machines are ideal for chopping and mixing of branches, pruning’s, sewage sludge and food waste.  Shredding and mixing are basic elements of a composting or anaerobic digestion operation which when done in volume requires high powered plant.   National recycling targets and rising landfill tax continues to stimulate these markets and sales are growing.  Recent big clients including Shrewsbury School & The National Trust are showing that managing your waste more sustainably can help your business address the triple bottom line.

It’s great to see a local Shropshire business growing on the back of waste being seen not as a problem but as a resource.
