Shropshire family firm expands recycling business

It all started when John Cartwright (MD) purchased a skip lorry and a few skips on his 21st birthday, operating from his father´s farm in Ellerdine.  Now 25 years on the business has grown into one of the most popular family run waste management companies in Shropshire, operating a fully licensed waste recycling centre from its head office in Telford.  The firm has since grown into a locally known empire which serves Shropshire and parts of Wales every single day.

In recent years the firm has expanded into the growing recycling market, developing new business opportunities by separating and recovering value from waste which previously would have gone straight to landfill.  Recent work has included putting in place the necessary controls and environmental and legal permissions to recycle waste electrical items from local businesses as well as a farm plastics collection scheme to support our rural economy.   Other projects include participation in government-funded trials to collect food waste from Shropshire schools and local businesses to help support the growing local anaerobic digestion market.

It all goes to show how the move to recycling our waste is not a problem for local businesses, in fact its an opportunity, to add value and create more local jobs right here in Shropshire.   Cartwrights are a fantastic example of how we can embrace recycling as a county and boost our economy at the same time.  For more information on their services from skip hire to house clearances and recycling call 01952 587 587 or e-mail [email protected] or visit their website http://www.cartwrightswastedisposal.co.uk/recycling
