Helping Harlescott recycle more

Staff from Shropshire Council and Veolia have been working with community groups in Harlescott, Shrewsbury to help get residents to recycle more.

Following a residents survey commissioned by local landlord Severnside Housing which found that waste and litter was the communities top concern, we have been working with local schools, charities and faith groups to identify ways to increase recycling in this area.

As part of this project a new cardboard collection facility has been installed at the heart of the community at the Eileen Sandford Community Centre on Kynaston Road.

The site was officially opened today by schoolchildren Leah Davies, Lewis Fevason and Faith Blood (above) from the local Grange Primary School.

The children have also designed posters to display around their community to help remind people that you don’t have to bin your cardboard – just take it to your local recycling facility.
