Cheque presented to Hope Primary School

Today I had the delightful task of presenting a cheque for £500 to Hope C of E Primary School near Minsterley.  The school was the winner of a recycling competition which saw them collect almost 3,000 kg of electrical items for recycling!

Representatives of the second placed Corvedale Primary School, who win £200, and third place Myddle C of E Primary School, who win £100, sponsored by Veolia, were also in attendance.

The competition which we organised in partnership with Veolia has been a great success, with thousands of children across the county taking part in collecting almost 30 tonnes of waste electrical equipment for recycling.

We have to say a big thank you and well done to all the participants on a fantastic achievement, and hopefully this has raised awareness of the need to reuse and recycle old electrical items, as well as raising some funds for the winning schools.  I hope it also reminds everyone out there to always recycle your old electrical items.  If its got a battery or a plug it doesn't belong in the bin, just take it to your nearest recycling site instead.
