Big Tidy Up in Highley

Residents from Orchard Street, Barke Street and Coronation Street in Highley came together to tidy up their neighbourhoods at a recent ‘Community Clean Up’ event.

Around 15 tenants turned up to the clean-up event organised by Shropshire Towns and Rural Housing.

They were supported by staff from Shropshire Council and skips and litter-picking equipment were provided to help clear out people’s clutter and help smarten up the streets.

Jez Morris, Housing Officer for Shropshire Towns and Rural Housing, said:

“It was great to see local residents taking a keen interest in how their area looks.  We managed to fill three skips and we could really see the difference after the tidy up.  The clean up event also gave residents the opportunity to socialise and get to know each other better.
