Town's Hive nominated for award

A Shropshire arts venue and youth charity is celebrating after its recent nomination as part of the first ever Shropshire Star Tourism and Leisure Awards. Bosses at the Hive in Shrewsbury are honoured to have been nominated as one of four potential winners for the accolade, within the Best Night Out category.

People across Shropshire are currently voting in the contest, which has a range of categories covering every aspect of tourism and leisure across the county including attractions, restaurants and heritage locations. The three other venues selected by a panel of judges for the Best Night Out award, are The Buttermarket and The Old Market, both in Shrewsbury - with Oakengates Theatre represents Telford in the category.

Voting will end on October 15 and the winner plus runner-up will be announced at a special awards ceremony in Ironbridge in November.

Habib Malik-Mansell of the Hive said "We were surprised but certainly honoured to receive the latter syaing that we had been nominated for the Best Night Out award. As the Shropshire Star have commented themselves, there really has become no such thing as a sterotypical night out at the Hive - with our diverse programme ranging from non-mainstream cinema screenings, through to wrestling and toddler activities, with world-class music performances too!".

He added "The other three venues are all successful and worthy in their own right - and we are pleased to be alongside them, representing the provision of entertainment and culture in the county."
