Miranda Sykes gig sells-out

The Hive Music and Media Centre in Shrewsbury has announced that a forthcoming concert by Miranda Sykes of world-renowned Show of Hands fame, has now sold out. Bosses say ticket sales for all other folk concerts at the venue are also well exceeding expectations of organisers and as such, folk enthusiasts are encouraged to book tickets before they all run out!

People have come to expect no shortage of world-class musicians from the Hive's stage and the Shrewsbury Folk Festival's spring 2013 gig line-up at the Shropshire arts venue is to build upon previous successes over the last 2 years. The new season launches with Miranda's sell-out event next Saturday, where she will be performing alongside Rex Preston.

Lucy Ward will take to the stage on Sunday January 20 and some tickets still remain priced at £12. Folk music fans will also be looking forward to the Emily Portman Trio on February 17 and Caroline Herring is to perform on March 1, with tickets costing £12 as well.

Habib Malik-Mansell from the Hive said "Our regular folk gigs are organised in partnership with the team behind the highly successful Shrewsbury Folk Festival and we are pleased to present such a diverse variety of international folk musicians as part of our music programme. It's highly positive to see people travelling from across the West Midlands and beyond to atttend the concerts, demonstrating the popularity of folk as a musical genre."

Other highlights in 2013 will include Sam Carter on March 17, followed by Jackie Oates in April. Old Man Luedecke will take to the stage in May with tickets costing £12 for the event on May 12, followed by Cara Luft in June.

Tickets for all of the folk concerts can be booked by calling the Hive on 01743 234970 or by visiting the centre in person at 5 Belmont, SY1 1TE. For more information visit http://www.hiveonline.org.uk/folk-concerts/
