Loton Park preview

Weekend to host top class motorsport…

Top class motorsport returns to Shropshire this weekend when Hagley Car Club stages its practise weekend for members, at Loton Park Speed Hill Climb, near Shrewsbury.

For the first time ever, the club is admitting spectators to the two one-day events on Saturday and Sunday, with commentary and timed runs starting at 9am each day and full details can be obtained from their website www.hdlcc.com.

Several new car and driver combinations will be dusting off the winter covers and taking to the narrow tarmac track up the hill through the picturesque deer park of Sir Michael Leighton’s stately home at Alberbury.

Husband and wife team Richard and Lindsay Summers of Tenbury Wells will be making a first appearance with their newly acquired Force PT single seater racing car, while sons Alex and Felix will be making it a family affair in their DJ Firehawk and OMS single seater racing cars respectively.

Former father and son British champions Roger and Scott Moran of Ludlow will be heading the entry of top class single seater racing cars with their McLaren-engined Gould GR61X, with several other top ten national drivers and cars taking part.

Shrewsbury entrants include Peta Marshall in a Porsche 944, Lucy McFarlane in a Peugeot 106 Rallye, Ray Stone in a Subaru Impreza, Steve Bailey in a Peugeot 205, Andrew Collins in a Renault Clio and Sean Toms in a Porsche Boxster.
