Clinical Negligence Team Expansion

The clinical negligence department at Shrewsbury law firm Lanyon Bowdler continues its growth with the addition of three new solicitors.

Susan Kenyon, Miranda Hill, and Eleanor Rowlands joined the team in late 2012.

Susan has nine years post qualification experience in both claimant and defendant cases.  Since 2009, she has specialised in claimant clinical negligence work, and undertakes a variety of cases including delays in diagnosing cancer, surgical errors, urology related injuries and obstetric maternal injury claims.  Susan also has experience of handling fatal cases and claims where the injured party is under a disability.

Miranda attended Manchester University where she gained a first class degree in English Law and French Law.  After attending the College of Law in Chester, passing the Legal Practice Course with Distinction, Miranda qualified as a solicitor in 2010.  She deals with all types of clinical negligence cases but has a particular interest in, and experience of, claims arising from fatal accidents, particularly stillbirths and neonatal deaths.

Eleanor joins the clinical negligence team having just completed her two year training contract with the firm.  Eleanor studied law at Manchester Metropolitan University, graduating with a 2:1. She went on to complete the LPC at The College of Law Chester, gaining a distinction.

The highly specialised clinical negligence team is headed by Kay Kelly, a partner and solicitor with over 20 years experience, and comprises a number of very experienced solicitors, legal executives and support staff.  Two in-house nurses, together with the support of a registered GP, complete the team able to provide first class legal advice to victims of medical negligence.  In addition, three of the team are members of the Law Society's Clinical Negligence Panel and the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers.  The firm is also on the approved list of solicitors for Headway - the Brain Injury charity, CBIT the Child Brain Injury Trust, and the Spinal Injuries Association.

The department’s continued expansion is testament to the team’s reputation for excellent service and specialist knowledge.  With offices in Shrewsbury, Hereford, Ludlow, Oswestry and Telford, the team represent clients across the UK as well as throughout Shropshire and the Marches, Mid and North Wales, Herefordshire, Staffordshire, Cheshire and the Midlands.

The firm holds a Legal Aid franchise and therefore can offer Legal aid for clients who meet the financial criteria.  In addition the team acts for clients under their existing Legal Expense Insurance policies or under Conditional Fee Agreements (No win no fee).  Prospective clients are offered an initial free 30 minute interview to advise on their potential claims and potential funding with no commitment.
