Two Shropshire businesses have joined forces for a floral celebration of one of the world’s greatest horticultural events.
The window of Wedding World, in The Parade in St Mary’s Place, Shrewsbury, is adorned with a huge flower arrangement crafted in the shape of a wedding cake, marking Chelsea Flower Show this week.
Florist Heather Miles, who owns Florissimo of Baschurch, has created the spectacular and colourful decoration, which is 160 centimetres high, using around 400 different blooms.
She said: “I specialise in weddings so I thought what better way to mark Chelsea Flower Show than by linking up with one of the region’s leading bridal shops?
“The theme of the florists’ competition at Chelsea Flower Show this year is cakes so that is what inspired me to do this.”
Anne Tucker, who owns Wedding World, which sells a huge range of bridal gowns, bridesmaid, evening and prom dresses said that she was delighted with the floral display.
“It is absolutely stunning and has made a fantastic centrepiece for our shop window this week – it has shown the whole town that business is blooming here, both for us and for Heather,” she added.
Chelsea Flower Show, which is one of the country’s largest and most prestigious horticultural evens, as been held in the grounds of the Royal Hospital Chelsea, London, every year since 1913, apart from gaps during the two World Wars. It runs until Saturday, May 23.
