University Centre Shrewsbury open day

Prospective students are being given the chance to experience what life would be like studying at University Centre Shrewsbury at a special event.

The University Centre’s open day will take place on Saturday October 20, when current students and staff will throw open the doors of the learning and research base at Guildhall, Frankwell Quay.

Anyone interested in studying courses starting next year is invited to attend.

There will be student-led tours to view facilities and find out about life on campus and further afield, as well as advice and information about the wide range of student support and extra-curricular opportunities.
People will also be able to find out about student finance, funding and the application process.

Provost of UCS, Professor Anna Sutton, said the open day was an invaluable opportunity to learn about life as a student in Shrewsbury.

She said: “We are very proud of not only the excellent facilities and teaching here in Shrewsbury, but also the supportive and friendly atmosphere of the place.
“I am sure that anyone coming along on Saturday will be struck by the warmth of the welcome they will receive, which is very much part of our nature here at UCS.

“People will be able to speak to students and staff, who will be on-hand to answer questions they may have and provide the full picture on student life in Shrewsbury.”

The open day will be held from 10am to 3pm, and people are asked to book a place in advance by visiting www.ucshrewsbury.ac.uk or calling 01743 297185.

UCS was established four years ago as a partnership between the University of Chester and Shropshire Council to create a higher education facility in Shrewsbury.

The University Centre has just welcomed a record number of new students and honoured its first cohort of graduates at its inaugural graduation ceremony on September 28.
