Great prizes for great ideas

Young people in Shropshire have just a month to get their thinking caps on and come up with a big idea to win exciting prizes from a hot air balloon ride to a Night with Dinosaurs experience in London’s Natural History Museum.

The Charles Darwin-inspired competition from Morris & Company and University Centre Shrewsbury (UCS) wants the county’s young minds to come up with one great idea to change the world.

A ‘Dino Snores’ sleepover experience inside London’s Natural History Museum awaits the winner of the best entry in the 7 to 11 age group. A GoPro Hero5 action camera will be presented to the winner of the 12 to 17 age category and a Virgin balloon ride is the prize for the 18 to 21-year-old winner.

Robin Morris, Chairman of Morris & Company, said: “We’ve alerted schools and hoping our competition has stirred the curiosity and imaginations of young people.  There really are no right or wrong answers, it’s all about having something you feel passionately about which would make our world a better place.

There are great prizes on offer, but to be in with a chance of winning, entries must be in by the 30 November deadline.”

Submissions can be up to 350 words for the 7-11 years category, up to 700 words (12-17 years) and up to 1,000 words (18-21 years). For more details visit morrisandco.com/youngthinkers

Three finalists from each category will take part in a live reading of their idea at UCS on 8 February 2018 when the winners will be crowned. The event will also mark start of a new Darwin Festival in Shrewsbury with activities to celebrate the great man’s birthday in his home town.
