Christmas festivities for Shrewsbury Colleges Group

Students from Shrewsbury Colleges Group have been working hard on their performances for their annual Christmas Concert, which is open to the public.

The students, who study at the English and Welsh Bridge Campuses, are putting on their festive concert in the Wakeman Hall tonight (13 Dec) at 7.30pm to family, friends and members of the public.

There will be a wide variety of acts taking part in the concert, including the College Concert Band, Jazz Band, String Orchestra and Choir. Students have also spent their time putting their own performances together. There will be a mix of music including Christmas songs, film music, pop/rock/jazz classics and Samba drumming.

Chris Lewis, Music Teacher, said: “The students have been working really hard all term to prepare some fantastic music for our Christmas concert. It is always an enjoyable and entertaining event and this year promises to be no exception. From Coldplay to Mozart, The Beatles to Irving Berlin, there's bound to be something to everyone's taste. I can't think of a better way to round off the term - I'd get your tickets before they're sold out!”

Shrewsbury Colleges Group will also be taking part in St Chad’s Christmas Tree Festival again this year. Over 40 trees will be on display within St Chad’s, turning it into a wonderland of fairy lights and tinsel. The College will be sponsoring a tree and adorning one with baubles celebrating the work that goes on at all three campuses.

Concert tickets are £5 each and can be reserved by calling 01743 235491 or emailing [email protected].

The Christmas trees will be on display from December 9 to January 3 and admission is free; with a programme of choirs, musicians and dancers going on until December 16.
