Following a 2-0 away defeat at high flying and high paying Swindon, Shrewsbury Town faced a bottom of the table clash with Bury. Earlier in the season Town got a draw at bury, which could so easily have been an away, so the Meadow faithful were hoping for a valuable 3 points to give a little more distance from the relegation spots. The starting line up saw a few chances with injured Jermaine...

Things have improved for Shrewsbury Town over the last couple of months, a win over a Coventry City who were rampant in the league and some creditable draws against decent teams like Brentford and MK Dons filled me with optimism ahead of the latest home game against Hartlepool. Hartlepool are somewhat adrift at the bottom of L1 so I was cautiously hopeful of 3 points.
The first 15...

My nephew lives in Scunny with his Mum and Stepdad. My Mum has remained close to his Mum, and so the opportunity to visit was just too good.

With my brother (Nephews Dad) living 80 miles away, a chance for ‘Uncle Ade’, My Bro and Son to watch Salop was hatched.

Normally travelling to North Lincolnshire sees grey skies. Today the sun was out, and with ‘Classical Music’ on the...

The reason why as a fan you want to gain promotion, is that you get to visit bigger clubs, bigger grounds, and fell former giants. Alas, so far this season, trips to Bramall Lane, Elland Road and Fratton Park had seen a return of ‘nil point’. And to be honest going to the Ricoh Arena, didn’t bring much hope of that sequence ending either.

Coventry, depsite their off field troubles (at...

As a football fan, I love Boxing Day games. My brother, wife and his niece came over. Little Chelsey stayed with Nan and Granddad, and we haeaded of to the Prince of Wales, for a pre match ale and transport to the game.   The Prince runs one of the Trust’s co-ordinated ‘Supporters Buses’ (these also travel to the Greenhous Meadow from the Dun Cow in Abbey Foregate, and The Beeches in Bayston...

Christmas is always a special time for Football Fans. Normally a number of games are played in pretty close succession, and with visiting family/ friends from far and wide, a community trip down the ‘Meddah’ is something I look forward to.   The Christmas fixtures started with Town away at Bury on the last Friday before Jesus Birthday. It quite frankly, seemed mad that this fixture...

After a difficult period of 6 games without a win and just 1 draw, I have to admit to a little apprehension as I arrived at the Greenhous Meadow for Saturdays game against Crewe. Alex had only lost 1 game in the last 5 and were looking like one of the form teams in the division. Graham Turner had made a couple of changes with Joe Jacobson and Mark Wright coming into the team after periods on...

Back in June, when the fixtures came out, I planned out the away games I would be attending. The plan is generally followed. Crunch promotion/ (relegation) matches can affect that. But on the whole, it followed three simple rules.

Attend an away match where there is a possibility of a day out/ weekend Local derbies Grounds that I’ve never visited before

Leyton Orient and...

Being a devoted Football fan isn’t easy. It will test your loyalty way past the point where normal sane people would just give up. One of those moments is when the team you love is beaten by a ‘lower league’ side in the F.A. Cup.

Last Saturday, Town met Hereford United. Hereford now play in the Blue Square Premier (in reality the fifth tier of English Football). With Town in League One...

After a decent performance against Portsmouth, I was hoping to see Shrewsbury Town do well against Yeovil on Tuesday. Yeovil hadn't won away since September, so I thought there was a chance of a much needed 3 points. It only took 9 minutes for Yeovil to shatter my optimism as the Glovers took an early lead.  It was a difficult match to watch and goals for Yeovil on 60 and 70 minutes were not...
